What a great place Altadore, Calgary is. With less than 10,000 residents it was honored by being named Calgary’s best neighborhood in 2010. The town is bordered on one side by the Elbow River and on the southeast, the River Park. It was established in 1945 and there still is a redevelopment plan in action. You will also find plenty of shopping around the Marda Loop Business Revitalized zone.
Schools serving this area are Altadore Elementary, Dr. Oakley School, Mount Royal Jr. High, and Central Memorial High School. Private schools are also available.
Britannia, Calgary may have less than 1000 residents but’s it’s a great place. In the Southwest quadrant of Calgary AB, it is close to everything you need. The community is bordered on the east by Elbow Drive and the Elbow River. The west is bordered by Riverdale Parkway and Britannica Drive borders to the north. You have access to the park and all the shopping centers from this area. Schools are close by in neighboring areas.
Around 7000 residents enjoy Killarney, Calgary and its surroundings. Settlers originally named it Killarney/Glengarry named after the Glengarry courthouse. It is bounded on the north by 17th Ave SW, 37th street on the west, Richmond Road SW on the south, and by 25A SW on the east. You will find all the shopping places you need at Westbrook Mall which features stores such as Walmart and Canada Safeway.
Schools in the area are Holy Name Elementary school, Killarney Elementary School, A.E. Cross Junior. High, Vincent Massey Jr. High, and Ernest Manning High School.
Richmond, Calgary has around 5000 residents and is located on both sides of Crowchild Trail, which is south of 17th Avenue SW. It was established in 1950 and has an area development plan in action. Schools in the area are the Richmond Elementary School and Chinook College. There are some private schools as well.
South Calgary was established in 1914 and now has approximately 4000 residents. Although schools are in nearby communities, there is a community run swimming pool available to residents. Plans for more development are in the works as well.
The Alexander Calhoun branch of the public library is housed in South Calgary which gives residents plenty of books to read and movies to watch.
Elbow Park, Calgary is in the southwest part of Calgary, AB. It is known to not only be the oldest part of Calgary, but the wealthiest. It is bordered by the Elbow River on the south and is home to River Park and Stanley Park. There are less than 4000 people in this community but there are two schools. Schools are the Elbow Park Elementary and the William Reid Bilingual Elementary.
Garrison Woods Calgary is a small community in Altadore which was part of the military history of WWII and developed into a residential area in 1990. Shopping centers have stores like Safeway, Starbucks, Fresh Kitchen, and an ice cream shop. It has plenty of outdoor activity opportunities, including a skateboard park.
Between Glenmore Trails SW and Crowchild Trails you will find the little community of Lakeview, Calgary. This community is around 6000 people and on the west border is the Tsuu T’ina Nation Indian Reservation. Founded in 1962 it was named after the view seen of the Glenview Reservoir.
The local schools are the Connect Charter School, Bishop Pinkham Junior. High School, Jennie Elliott Elementary School, and the Calgary Girls School.
North Glenmore, Calgary has approximately 3000 residents and was established in 1959. It is bordered by two different golf courses for avid golfers, and has many schools. Schools include Central Memorial/Lord Shaughnessy High School, National Sport Academy, School of performing and visual arts, St James Elementary and Jr. High, and the Calgary Girls School.
Aspen Woods, Calgary is in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, Ab. There are around 3000 residents since this growing community was only established in 2001. Surrounding the community is a lot of acreage, making a beautiful area to live in. Schools are close by the neighboring communities.
Cougar Ridge, Calgary is a small residential area that has lots of bountiful acreage. There are between 6000 and 7000 residents that love having their northern boundary be the Paskapoo Slopes and Canada Olympic Park. Schools are in the nearby adjoining communities.
Discovery Ridge, Calgary before its development was known as Jackson’s Valley. At that time is was next to a military reserve. It’s nearly 5000 residents attend schools and do their shopping at nearby communities.
Battalion Park and the Westhills Towne Center are both at the top of the hill in Signal Hill, Calgary. Battalion Park overlooks the Sarcee Indian Nation. What a View! There is also a public library in town that is the Signal Hill Library which serves surrounding communities. This community was established in 1985 and houses almost 15,000 residents. The school in town is the Battalion Park School.
Springbank Hill, Calgary is a suburb near Calgary, AB city limits. It was established in 1999 and has several subdivisions now. The neighborhood houses almost 9000 residents and has access to the Ernest Manning High School and the Ambrose University.
West Springs, Calgary is a residential neighborhood at the western edge of Calgary, AB. It is partially bordered on the North by Canada Olympic Park. Established in 2001 it now has around 9000 residents. The only school at this time is West Springs Elementary.
Wildwood, Calgary was first settled in 1883 but wasn’t developed until the 1950s. It sits on a plateau south of Bow River Valley and is bordered on its North side by the Bow River. There are around 3000 residents in Wildwood and they go to school at the neighboring Wildwood Elementary public school.
